Breadlines

As the coursework is so intensive and so many meals are shared, many recipes are also given away- so someone had the idea of Breadlines- a recipe sharing part of the website.

Emma’s Bread and Puppet Icecream

Melt dark chocolate and stir in crunchy peanut butter. spoon out small clusters of the mixture and allow to set. Stir the clusters into soft white icecream and serve…..(stand back as you will be very popular!) Emma Fisher

Ida’s Chickpea and Garlic Roast.


Peel a huge number of garlic cloves. Scatter them into a large baking tray with three cups of boiled chickpeas. Roast in olive oil for about an hour. Sprinkle in fresh thyme just before serving with a salad and a plate of salami and parma ham. (serves 4) Ida Tjalve (Denmark)

Urko’s Mother’s Leek Pie.


Chop up a lot of leeks and one onion, fry in olive oil (do not brown)Leave to cool slightly.
Roll out pastry to make a case for a deep spring form tin approx 10″ in diameter.
Mix leeks and onion with cream and an egg, Fill pastry and roll out a lid and place over the pie and cook in medium oven until golden brown.
Serve with onion, lettuce, beetroot and tuna fish salad. Serves 4

Urko Redondo Pescador(Basque Country)

Accidental Cheese Melt.


Arrange assorted cheeses on a shallow dish plate. Freeze them covered in cling film. If you are serving soup and everyone is so hungry that you need extra food FAST. Take out dish of frozen cheeses and microwave for a couple of minutes on highest setting. They melt together not so much that they get mixed up-. (ok I only meant to defrost- but the result was impressively delicious!)

Hella’s Lemon Chicken and Potatoes

Put into a deep roasting tray: small potatoes, cut up onions, chicken pieces, sprinkle with olive oil,juice of four lemons, dried thyme,garlic salt and roast. DELICIOUS Hella Rust

Handy Quick Basic Soup


Put into a glass bowl: chopped up onion and potato plus any other root vegetables, (one each per person) pour in a little boiling water and stock cubes. Cook in microwave until soft, then add evaporated milk, or soya milk -liquidize. If it is for more people then do not bother with microwave but use large pan instead.  Caroline Astell-Burt
