The London School of Puppetry is a Company Limited by Guarantee

LSP has a flat management structure consisting of a Committee including the Director of Studies, the Directory of Puppet Manipulation, the Secretary and one other Director plus advisers from education, training, puppetry and members of the student body who convene as the Academic Board.

  • The aim of the Committee is to provide a rigorous overseeing and creative management structure to govern the School by  monitoring :
  • Administration and record keeping
  • The mission and strategic direction of LSP
  • Issues related to values, ethics, and conflicts of interest.
  • A transparent and rigorous quality assurance system.
  • Finance
  • Regular reviews of  the operations and policies of LSP to ensure that they comply with all legal requirements and reflect the best practices in the field of education and training provision for puppetry.
  • The requisite skills and experience of the management to carry out their duties to understand and fulfill their governance duties for the benefit of LSP.
  • Information for regulatory authorities with regard to any changes in the following:
    • any partnership, licensing or franchising arrangements
    • the corporate or governance structure of the awarding body;
    • the legal identity of LSP

The Committee is required to provide evidence for the regulatory authorities as they may reasonably require to determine whether any such changed arrangements meet the criteria;

  • to comply with any subsequent conditions of accreditation imposed by the regulatory authorities;
  • to make a new submission for recognition as an awarding body if required to do so by the regulatory authorities.

Academic Board

Consists of the Director of Studies, staff members, members of the student-body who:

  • Self-monitor and self-evaluate the performance of LSP and establish performance goals for the subsequent year.
  • Review and approve policy recommendations that require action before a scheduled meeting.
  • Hear appeals and disciplinary procedures and decide on them.
  • Provide a sounding board to the Director of Studies, serving as a source of ready advice on executive decisions by the Committee as a whole.
  • Monitor student support and resources
  • Staffing
  • Assessment, monitoring and moderating.
  • Publish regular reports on LSP activities on the LSP website and receive feedback from the puppetry community.
  • Review annually the work of LSP and recommend any changes to Committee
  • Review and write the curriculum
