This programme runs over three years minimum in Islington. North London. Students work the six units of study- two per year maximum. Where possible the student body is linked to the intensive study students who commute between London and Yorkshire by means of shared workshops and the LSP Blog. This version of the Diploma Course is ideal for anyone wishing to combine the study of puppetry with another job or family commitments.
Time commitment:
Classes take place on Saturdays and Sundays 1-8pm from November-June, (18 meetings to cover two study Units.) Students are assessed regularly during each unit of study and should complete during the 9 meetings allotted to each unit of study (One meeting is a full day of performances in a school) Students are required to put in at least 5 hours a week of practise over the three years of the Course. This might be research, including seeing shows, individual solo work etc. Not included in the price or the time allowed are marionette carving and sound classes. (another 7 days)
Each Unit of study SU1-4 is divided into three parts resulting in the production of 4 solo performances.

Unit SU5. Applied Puppetry. Relates to work with visiting artists from different art forms which require puppetry. (Normal class times)
Unit SU6 Business Strategies for the Professional Puppeteer is built around the running of a venue for a season of performances.(a period of one to two weeks full-time) and also includes work-placements.
As students are free to choose which Units of Study to take at a time. In one class students might be involved in different kinds of puppetry which contributes to a rich study experience. Each class consists of an operating class, individual tutorials and work on solo performances. The programme is roll-on, roll-off and applicants may plan to join at any time in the 18 meeting period.
