Glove Puppetry the best way to earn a living!

February 19th-March 20th 2009

Obratsov the Russian puppet-master said “the soul of the puppet lies in the palm of the hand”. Often the first puppet show we ever see as children is the glove puppet show. Their closeness to the body makes them the least frightening to watch. Little children speak directly to them and listen avidly to the stories from Punch and Judy to the traditional rhymes and tales that belong to every culture. The glove puppet character carries mischief and mayhem or the triumphs of a little hero. The attraction of the glove puppet to the puppeteer is the possibility they have for dramatic interaction. Essentially because two characters may be operated at one time, a whole story can be enacted by one puppeteer.

This glove puppetry course will be aimed at those who want to earn a living as puppeteers. There will be daily operating classes, puppet making sessions, script-writing and devising, learning how to run successful rehearsals, and developing your business skills.
